GHAI is seeking applications from CSOs in Africa, particularly in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, to participate in the Health Security Budget Advocacy Academy. The goal is to enhance CSO capacity for budget advocacy in the region.

GHAI and RTSL have worked together on the Prevent Epidemics initiative to generate public support and political commitment to secure ongoing funding for epidemic preparedness. GHAI’s advocacy strategy has involved engaging policymakers, CSOs, and the media to prioritize epidemic readiness and secure reliable funding at a national level.

Program Details

Based on the insights gained since 2018, GHAI created the Facilitator’s Guide for the Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness, a comprehensive resource that provides a systematic approach for facilitators to instruct government officials and advocates from civil society organizations on advocacy methods for epidemic preparedness.

The Facilitator’s Guide was created using GHAI’s Budget Advocacy Toolkit for Epidemic Preparedness as a foundation. It aims to showcase the program’s advocacy strategy and offer educational resources to expand Prevent Epidemics budget advocacy initiatives across various countries through workshops and potentially online learning platforms.
