The NextGen Youth Programme by GOAL unites young individuals from diverse backgrounds to enhance their comprehension of global justice matters and to strengthen their awareness of Global Citizenship.

This program will mentor young, driven individuals to educate them about the increasing challenges that our world is facing, particularly in the areas of conflict, climate, and gender. Following this, participants will collaborate to brainstorm solutions for the future by developing materials to raise awareness that will contribute to GOAL’s outreach initiatives.

Benefits

  • To support participation, financial support in the form of stipends will be provided to all selected participants. These stipends are designed to cover expenses related to internet access, data usage, and any travel costs incurred during the program.
  • Successful participants will receive stipends amounting to €400 for the entire duration of the program.

Others Include

During these 10 sessions, participants will collaborate with their global peers to acquire competencies in critical thinking, intercultural communication, project management, teamwork, and the basics of organizing and executing public awareness campaigns.

By participating in this program, you will be empowered to:

  • Recognize the diverse and interconnected nature of our world.
  • Critically evaluate the systems that perpetuate disparities.
  • Assess your and others’ roles in addressing local and global challenges.
  • Participate in discussions with others in a spirit of empathy, inclusivity, solidarity, and cooperation.
  • Develop the confidence, courage, and resilience to advocate for change.
  • Understand the work of GOAL, and have the opportunity to interact with GOAL personnel.

 Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following requirements to be taken into consideration:

  • Reside in Ethiopia, Ireland Honduras, Iraq, Uganda, Zimbabwe, or Sierra Leone.
  • Have a strong command of English.
  • Be between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Be available for 10 seminars scheduled between May and July. These sessions will take place on Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Be willing to actively participate in team collaborations during the period between seminars.
  • Possess a basic or growing understanding of local and global issues.
  • Display a clear motivation and willingness to contribute to positive change. This could be demonstrated through volunteering, involvement in local events, workshop facilitation, tutoring, engagement in creative extracurricular activities, etc.
  • Express an interest in participating in artistic forms of learning, such as drama, art, creative writing, journalism, music, or other artistic disciplines.
  • While desirable, having reliable access to a “device” and the internet is not essential. If you don’t have access, please inform us in your application, and we’ll strive to provide support for your participation.

 Programme Dates

The 2024 Program will include 10 online sessions, with 3 in-person sessions for participants based in Ireland.

  • On Saturday, May 25, participants based in Ireland will meet in person from 11 am to 4 pm.
  • On Tuesday, May 28, international participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, June 6, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, June 13, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, June 20, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, June 27, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30, Irish participants will have an in-person retreat.
  • On Thursday, July 4, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, July 11, all participants will have an online session from 3 pm to 5 pm.
  • On Thursday, July 18, Irish participants will have an in-person meeting from 11 am to 3 pm. There will also be a hybrid meeting with all participants from 2 pm to 3 pm.
