You’re invited to apply for the 2024 GCSP Prize for Transformative Futures in Peace and Security. This prestigious prize recognizes innovative ideas that have the potential to address challenges in peace and security.
Whether you’re an individual, part of a group, or representing an organization from the private or public sector, your groundbreaking concepts are eligible for consideration.
Leadership and Background
Ambassador Thomas Greminger, the Executive Director of GCSP, initiated this prize in collaboration with Professor Nayef Al-Rodhan, Director of the Geopolitics and Global Futures Department, and Ms Anne-Caroline Pissis Martel, Director of the Global Fellowship Initiative and Creative Spark.
Objective
The Prize for Transformative Futures in Peace and Security aims to acknowledge concepts that show exceptional promise in tackling global peace and security challenges. The inaugural edition of the prize was successfully awarded in 2023.
Who Can Apply?
- Applications are welcome from any country. The key is that the submitted concepts should have the potential to make an impact beyond national borders.
- Eligible fields encompass transformative technologies, pandemics, biothreats, autonomous weapons, climate change, human rights, cybersecurity, education, and disarmament.
What’s in it for you?
The winners (first, second, and third place) will be publicly announced during an event in May 2024. The top winner receives a fully funded 2-month incubation program at GCSP’s Creative Spark in Geneva, valued at CHF 15,000, along with a certificate of excellence. Finalists receive certificates of recognition.
How to Apply
Submit your application via the online form. Your submission should include
- a project concept abstract (up to 250 words)
- a well-developed project concept description (not exceeding 750 words)
- details on the technical process (if applicable)
- an estimated budget
- an explanation of how your concept contributes uniquely to global peace and security
- a description of its short-term and long-term impact.
- You can also include up to five optional image files.
Important Note
Applications must be submitted in English through the online form. Any submissions through other channels will not be considered.
Selection Process
A panel of judges will evaluate submissions based on criteria such as
- dedication to sustainable global peace and security
- creativity
- originality
- transformative potential
- sustainability
- incubation potential
- implementation potential
- and potential impact on peace and security.
