About Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)

GAIN is a non-profit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, it was conceived during the UN’s 2002 Special Session of the General Assembly on Children. Their overarching goal is to enhance the consumption of nutritious and safe foods for all, an aspiration that has garnered support from over 30 donors and close collaboration with international organizations and United Nations agencies.

GAIN’s tireless efforts span two decades of food system programs, with a particular focus on adolescent and child nutrition. Their commitment to improving global nutrition makes them a beacon of hope for those who struggle with malnutrition’s dire consequences.

Agribusinesses in Nigeria

Agribusinesses, the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, play a pivotal role in various facets of the nation’s growth. They are instrumental in employment generation, ensuring food security, and contributing to overall economic development.

However, a recurring challenge that has plagued these agribusinesses is access to adequate financing. This obstacle has limited their growth potential and hindered their ability to make a more significant impact. One of the primary hurdles faced by agribusinesses in Nigeria is securing funding for innovative solutions.

The high interest rates offered by banks and other financial institutions have further exacerbated the financial woes of these ventures as they seek loans to expand their operations. Recognizing this dire need, GAIN has stepped forward through its Strengthening Nutrition in Priority Staples Project to provide a lifeline for over 30 nutritious food businesses in Nigeria.

Benefits of GAIN Microgrant Funding

The microgrant program is set to provide equity-free grants of N3,000,000 (Three million naira) to 33 carefully selected businesses across the four project states.

This substantial financial support will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for growth, helping these businesses make a more significant impact on their communities and the nation as a whole.
