The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the DSF Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year.

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating access to higher education, DSF collaborates with Denver Public Schools (DPS) high school students, families, and partners statewide to overcome barriers to post-secondary education.

DSF was established in 2006, it recognizes the multifaceted challenges facing Denver students and endeavors to address them through financial assistance and personalized support.

Details About the DSF Scholarship

The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) offers need-based scholarships to qualifying graduates of Denver Public Schools, aiming to alleviate the financial burden associated with higher education.

These Denver Scholarship Foundation awards apply also to the foundation’s  31 College Partners across Colorado, including technical, community, and four-year institutions. Recipients are required to enroll full-time and may renew the scholarship for up to five consecutive years, contingent upon the type of college attended.

Eligibility Criteria for DSF Scholarship

To be considered for the DSF Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following initial requirements:

  • Prospective Candidates must attend a Denver Public Schools (DPS) high school for all four (4) consecutive years before graduation unless transferring into DPS from another state or country.
  • Graduate from a DPS High School with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and meet DSF’s GPA requirement for the chosen college type.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Satisfy the residency classification requirements of the chosen college for in-state tuition or state aid.
  • Enroll full-time for undergraduate study at one of DSF’s College Partners.

Benefits of the DSF Scholarship

The DSF Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year offers the following annual awards:

  • 4-year College/University: $3,600 (Required HS GPA: 2.75)
  • Up to $1,700 for Community College: (Required HS GPA: 2.5)
  • Technical College: $1,700 (Required HS GPA: 2.0)

These awards are based on full-time enrollment and are evenly distributed between semesters or quarters.

Application Process

Applying for the DSF Scholarship requires the following steps:

  • Apply for admission to one of DSF’s partner colleges, ensuring compliance with Colorado residency requirements.
  • Complete the online application form accurately.
  • Submit the 2024-25 FAFSA, CASFA, or other relevant financial aid applications.
  • Fulfill the financial aid requirements of the chosen college by July 15.
  • Log into the DSF portal and update your college choice by July 15.
  • Stay updated by regularly checking emails from DSF regarding your application status.

Renewal Process

To renew the DSF Scholarship for subsequent years, recipients must adhere to the renewal application process, including:

  • Completion of a short renewal application available in the DSF Student Portal from February to May 1.
  • Fulfillment of Student Success Requirements each term.
  • Maintenance of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as per the college’s guidelines.
  • Finalization of college choice in the DSF Student Portal by July 15.
  • Completion of financial aid requirements by July 15.
