In 2000, both Diplo and DJ Low Budget began to release their very own mixtapes. The two DJs became very popular throughout the national and local scene. After that Diplo soon released a debut solo album which he titled ‘Florida. He then followed up with a DVD titled ‘Banned in Libya’. In the DVD he explored the sub-genre known as ‘favela funk’.
The professional DJ became more successful than he ever used to and he began to work with singer M.I.A after working together with her on a mixtape. He later released ‘Piracy funds Terrorism vol. 1’. Diplo together with DJ switch and M.I.A collaboratively created the Grammy-nominated song titled ‘paper planes’.
He went on to work with artists such as Bruno March, Die Antwood, Kid Cudi, and many more. He however established ‘mad decent’. A record label and then toured with Steve Aoki in china. He started to work with other artists such as Gucci mane, Lil Jon Rusko, and many more. some of his notable works are with Travis porter, usher, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, and Lil Wayne.
He co-created Major Lazer alongside switch in 2011. The first album released by Major Lazer was very popular for its heavy Jamaican dancehall influences and the album received global critical acclaim.
