Dash Scholarship 2024-25 at University of Ghana – Stipends Available  

In partnership with seven (7) other sub-Saharan African (SSA) universities and research centers, the University of Ghana is working with several Institutions from Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and two German universities (Heidelberg University and Technical University of Munich).

They’re in partnering to carry out the “Research Network for Design and Evaluation of Adolescent Health Interventions and Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa (DASH)” multi-country study on adolescent health interventions. DASH’s primary long-term objective is to use population-based intervention and policy research to enhance and promote adolescent health in sub-Saharan Africa.

DASH Scholarship 2024-25 in Adolescent Health – Details

The University of Ghana School of Public Health, is inviting eligible individuals to apply for the 2024/2025 DASH Master’s and PhD Scholarship in Adolescent Health. Three (3) areas of the health of adolescents and young adults are the focus of this project: (a) nutrition and physical activity; (b) sexual and reproductive health; and (c) mental health and violence.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research funds the Research Networks for Health Innovations in Sub-Saharan Africa (RHISSA), which includes the DASH cooperation. The study is being carried out in Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service’s Dodowa Health Research Centre. DASH aims to provide postgraduate training to develop the skills of young and aspiring scientists.

Eligibility Criteria for DASH Scholarship

In order to be eligible for the University of Ghana’s 2024 DASH Scholarship:

  • You must be a Ghanaian
  • Have the commitment to study full-time.
  • Be able to independently analyze data statistically.
  • Be open to collaborating with people from different fields.
  • Fulfill the postgraduate admissions requirements of the University of Ghana.
  • Possess the ability to operate both individually and in groups, including doing fieldwork in difficult environments.
  • Proof of prior publication experience will be advantageous for PhD candidates.
  • People who are younger than forty years old are urged to apply.
  • The University of Ghana especially encourages women to apply.

  • The cost of on-campus accommodation will be covered
  • A monthly stipend to support living expenses will be provided for PhD Candidates

  • Submit an online application to the Master’s or PhD programmes in public health.
  • Those who satisfy the admission standards will be asked to take part in competitive entrance exams after the general application deadline.

  • Upload the necessary PDF documents.
  • Only those who pass the admission exam and make the short list will be contacted for an interview.
  • By August 15, 2024, the selected candidates will be contacted.
