- The winner will have access to work with teams from across BBC News,
- The winner of the award is expected to produce an African story for the BBC, this story and the winner’s voice will be shared across the African continent and the world at Large.
- The winner will receive support from a high-level BBC mentor and attend courses run by the BBC’s world-class training department, the BBC Academy.
- Additionally, the winner will be given a stipend plus their London accommodation and travel to and from their home.

Eligibility Criteria for BBC Komla Dumor Award Qualification
To be eligible to apply for the BBC Komla Dumor Award, you must meet the requirements below:
- You must be a resident and working as a journalist in Africa.
- Excellent journalism skills are mandatory both in digital and social media.
- Have Broadcasting experience.
- You’re expected to have an excellent broadcasting voice and presenting solid skills, and be able to perform at the microphone with flair.
- Ability to identify and pitch a strong original African story idea, aligned with the BBC editorial guidelines.
- You’re expected to have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the African continent, including politics, business, culture, history and sports.
- Fluency in English as a first or equivalent language is a major requirement
