The AXA Chairs Grant is a highly competitive funding program aimed at supporting significant advancements in research within a host institution, aligning with the institution’s long-term goals. The goal is to establish a full-time academic position at the host institution and facilitate a major career development opportunity for the appointed AXA Professor.
The AXA Chairholder is expected to dedicate their full time to the host institution and publish their work under the institution’s name during the duration of the chair. If two candidates are equally exceptional and have the same potential for transformation, preference may be given to institutions that hire a Chairholder from another institution, though not necessarily from a foreign country.
The AXA research fund assists academic projects that contribute to a better understanding and addressing of global risks, particularly in the areas of climate and environment, health, socioeconomics, and new technologies.
Benefit
- The AXA Chair is granted for a maximum duration of 5 years, with funding of up to €200,000 per year.
Eligibility Criteria
Meeting the requirements outlined below provides an advantage in the consideration process.
- Only one application is permitted to be submitted per institution.
- The host institutions must be registered in the AXA research fund database.
- The research program should showcase strong potential and merit.
- The Chairholder should have a minimum of a Ph.D. plus 10 years of experience, possess exceptional qualifications, and have a proven track record of outstanding research accomplishments.
- Institutions that hire a Chairholder from another institution, regardless of whether they are from a foreign country or not, will be given preference.
How to Apply For AXA Chair Grant 2024
The steps below will guide you in your application process so be sure to read carefully
Step 1: Expression of interest
use the online application platform to submit the following information: candidate details including birth date and PhD defense date, a brief CV limited to 3 pages, and a title and description of your research program within 3000 characters, including spaces.
Step 2: Full application
You will receive an invitation to submit a complete application via the AXA Chair Grant online platform. It is important to note that the application must be submitted in English and within the specified deadline. Any applications that are received after the deadline will not be eligible for consideration.
Step 3: Rebuttal
Candidates will be given a timeframe of one week to address any comments provided by the reviewers before their applications are presented to the AXA Research Fund’s Scientific Board.
Step 4: Online Question and Answer (Q&A) session with the Scientific Board’s members
