Google, Apple, Twitter, and other big tech companies have joined forces to help increase workplace diversity. The companies worked together with academics to produce the action to catalyze tech support that highlights the company’s commitment to ensure that first-generation college students, people of color, women, and the LGBTQ community are well represented in their companies.

What Is the Catalyze Tech Initiative

What is the catalyze tech initiative one may ask? This very initiative is designed to align the tech industry around collection actions. These actions however will be based on the idea that lasting change can only be achieved when companies and everyone irrespective of culture and differences work together.

Bloomberg has previously reported that the companies involved are prepared and committed to sharing demographic data regarding their workforces with the tech equity accountability mechanism. The tech equity accountability mechanism is a program that is developed by the global think-tank the Aspen Institute.

What Big Tech Companies Had To Say About the Initiative?

Snapchat’s vice president of diversity, equity, and inclusion and the chair of the catalyze tech working group, Oona king said in a press release that, “so often the tech industry moves fast and shoots for the stars – yet when it comes to diversity and inclusion, the industry’s progress has been agonizingly slow. It is long past time for urgency and accountability, and the ACT report sets out a tangible roadmap for companies of all sizes.”

Companies That Have Signed the Diversity Initiative Push

A host of companies including, Google, Apple and Twitter have given the green light to include all persons with various cultural and personal backgrounds in their companies. The lists of other companies that have signed in on the act also include;
