Amazon Fire TV Reorganizes its Free Channels

Amazon Fire TV reorganizes its free channels in its new update for easier access for users.  Reports now claim that more than 400 stations on the platform have now been reorganized and placed in one convenient spot.

Tech Company Amazon is reportedly cleaning up its Fire TV Channels simply by launching a new app bundling the more than 400 content providers on the platform into one effective, simple, and convenient location.

The update in question is making its way to “smart TVs and streaming media players” that have support for Amazon Fire TV in the United States at the moment. The company states that once they get to download the patch, users will primarily have two ways to access this newfound reservoir.

You can easily command “Alexa to ‘Play Fire TV Channels’ to open the app”. Or you can just as easily head over to the “Fire TV’s ‘Your Apps & Channels’ [menu]”, where the app in question will have its home. And once found, direct and easy access to the app will be displayed “in the Recently Used Apps row on the Home screen.”

Amazon Is Not Adding a Home Screen Icon For Fire TV Channels

It however does not appear that Amazon is including a Home screen icon for Fire TV Channels. The closest thing that you can do here is to stumble upon a show or a movie on your streaming device. The company however, on the other hand, recommends pressing the Home button on “your Alexa Voice remote” and then scrolling down on the page in order to “find [rows] labeled Fire TV Channels”. It is also very much possible to “go to the Free icon in Fire TV’s navigation bar.” And at the end of the day, the process will vary from one user to another.

Amazon Is Set To Introduce New Providers to Fire TV

Amazon alongside the app, is currently introducing new providers to Fire TV. And just as you should already know, they range from entertainment stations such as The Hollywood Report to comedy channels like Funny or Die. It is still unknown if these changes in question will be making their way to other countries where Amazon Fire TV is available, like Canada, the UK, Australia, and France.

Amazon Free Ad-Supported Streaming

The imminent release of the Fire TV Channels app comes at a quite particularly interesting time. Fire TV Channels as you should know is something that is known as a FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) platform. It is essentially cable TV, but however without the monthly bills. And it is also a niche service that we think is ready to quickly expand, especially at the moment that the best streaming services in the industry have started jacking up prices.

In fact, a very recent report from the Financial Times reveals that streaming platforms in the United States cost viewers roughly $87 a month, which is up $73 from just a year ago. Users and subscribers are getting squeezed and we have to go somewhere eventually.

Amazon FAST Services

Amazon is seemingly ready to pounce on this very opportunity as it has not one at the moment, but however two FAST services which are the Fire TV Channel, as we just covered, and Freevee, which just recently gained a ton of content from MGM Studios. And not known as one to fall behind, Google is going down a similar path simply by launching 800 free channels to Android TV.
