The Applications for the AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme 2023 are open for outstanding students of all academic disciplines across University departments. Successfully Selected Candidates will have the opportunity to work with any researcher based at the University of Oxford.
AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is targeted towards African researchers who are exceptional in their work, to build a network of international researchers and focus on their choice projects while collaborating with scholars at Oxford University. Participants will be closely associated with the University of Oxford for one year.
In addition, fellows will attend virtual training sessions for about 10 months, plus an opportunity to visit the University of Oxford during the trinity term.

Benefits of AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme 2023
The AfOx fellows are entitled to the following benefits:
- A furnished en-suite, single occupancy study room
- Provision of meals in the host College.
- A temporal University membership card to the college Senior Common Room for the entire period of residency.
- Fellows airfare and visa fee will be covered and
- Provision of maintenance allowance for incidental expenses.
About Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx)
The University of Oxford’s Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) was founded in 2016 as a cross-university platform with the goal of fostering long-lasting partnerships between Oxford and universities in Africa.
Furthermore, the initiative seeks to Increase the number of African students enrolled in postgraduate degrees at Oxford. Since its inception, Africa Oxford Initiative has facilitated over 200 new collaborations, between 60+ departments within the University of Oxford.

Eligibility Criteria for AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme 2023
- Researchers across all academic Fields are highly encouraged to apply
- To be eligible, applicants must have the name of a Researcher who is based at Oxford, stated clearly on their application.
Selection Criteria for AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme
- The submitted applications will be reviewed based on the quality and value-added of the proposed research agenda
- Considerations will be given to how applicants are able to fit in with the Oxford host, and
- The feasibility of the applicant’s proposed activities within the time frame of the
