Windows 11 Built-in Video Editor Gets Major Updates that fix major drawbacks on the b. Recently, Windows 11 got Clipchamp, or at least the video editing app graced the latest preview build of the OS, and now one of the biggest issues on the app has been fixed.
Clipchamp – which was acquired by Microsoft in September 2021, and turned up for windows 11 testers earlier in the month, has a major downside in that the basic free plan only allowed for videos to get exported at 480p resolution.

That is pretty crummy, but now the free version has been upped to bring in unlimited exporting to Full HD or 1080p resolution, which previously required its users to be subscribers to the creator plan that come at $9 / £8 / AU$10 monthly.
You would still find some interesting benefits for paying a creator subscription, of course namely access to stock audio clips and unlimited cloud storage for your projects. Meanwhile, business plans would furnish you with some extra goodies that include stock video clips and the ability to fully brand your creations.
Clipchamp 1080p Update
It is great to see the 1080p exports coming to the freebie incarnation of Clipchamp, though really, 480p was quite low to set, and so this was a move that need to be made.
It is quite obvious enough that Clipchamp is being introduced as an app on Windows 11 during its testing – presumably set to come to the OS much later this year in the big 2022 update that brought tons of attention to the program. And with the spotlight shining more intensely on the export limitation, and perhaps given initial tester feedback, Microsoft decided that the 480p situation had to make some changes.
Clipchamp Effect
Clipchamp is, in effect, the return of Windows Movie Maker. And it would be offering casual users a built-in and convenient option to quickly edit video clips that are inside windows 11. Well having to pay for a decent resolution with the end result would have severely limited Clipchamp’s Usefulness when it comes to positioning.
