Vivo’s new flip phone, which is a rival to Samsung and other flip phone-making companies out there, has been reportedly leaked. If the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from Samsung and Find N2 Flip from Oppo had a baby, then it just might be the new Vivo new flip phone.
Vivo’s New Flip Phone
After Oppo and Samsung both released their flip phones for 2023, Vivo soon may be coming out with its very own version.
An image of the rumored Vivo X Flip was leaked on Monday on Chinese social media, Weibo, by a well-known tipster. The leak shows a clamshell-style phone with a very large cover screen in a horizontal orientation on the upper section of the device. This is a significantly bigger screen than the one available on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4, and it stands in contrast to Oppo’s Find N2 Flip, which has a big screen in a vertical orientation.
Foldable Phones Are Still To Make Their Mark in the Industry
Smartphone companies are all of the thinking that foldable phones will be the next big thing in smartphone tech, but these bendy devices with high hopes are still yet to break into the mainstream. The flip phone, however, seems to be paving the way for that very segment, as it continues its staged comeback all partly thanks to its compact design and the perception that it lets users disconnect from their devices more than regular smartphones.
Oppo Released Its Very First Flip Phone to International Markets This Year
Fellow Chinese phone maker Oppo this very year released its very first flip phone to international markets, in a move that strengthens the phone maker’s commitment to the foldable phone category.
Early Rumors about the Vivo X Flip
Earlier reports on the Vivo X Flip reveal that it has a 6.8-inch inner screen and that it will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. There is still no word yet on when the flip phone from Vivo will be announced or if it will even receive an international release, but the Chinese phone-maker is reported to unveil its book-style foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold 2, as early as the month of April.
