University of California San Diego Acceptance Rate | UCSD 2023

UCSD welcomes a minimum of 8000 freshmen per year and offers almost 200 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. UCSD is ranked seventh among the top ten institutions in California. It is difficult to gain admission to this top university because it is quite competitive. They only accept the top prospects.

University of California San Diego Acceptance Rate

The acceptance rate for 2022-2026 is expected to range between 24 and 34%. In 2022, only over 31,000 students were accepted as freshmen out of 131,000 applicants.

To be eligible and have a chance for admission to UCSD, you must be among the top finishers in your school, with an average GPA of  4.07, an average SAT score that ranges between 1270- 1470, and an ACT score between 28-33.  All criteria are applicable to both residents and non-residents of California.

USCD Acceptance Rate

The University of California, San Diego received 130,830 applications for the Class of 2027, with official acceptance rates for this cycle not yet available. This is very similar to the previous year’s total of 131,226 applications. UCSD’s admission percentage for the Class of 2026 was 23.7%. The acceptance rate for the Class of 2027 is expected to be similar to this amount.

The majority of UCSD Diego students were from California and paid in-state tuition. The overall geographic distribution is as follows.

  • Percent from Los Angeles/Orange Counties: 34%
  • Percent from other U.S. States (non-residents) – 9%

In terms of ethnic identity, the Triton student body is divided as follows:

  • Asian American: 38%
  • Hispanic: 21%
  • International: 16%
  • Caucasian: 19%
  • African American: 3%

The gender breakdown reflects a nearly equal split between male and female students.

  • Female: 51%

Current students’ preferred fields of study were as follows:

UCSD SAT, ACT, GPA, And Class Rank

SAT: The New SAT score in the 25th percentile is 1250, and the SAT score in the 75th percentile is 1470.

In other words, a 1250 puts you below average, and a 1470 puts you above average. There is no specific SAT requirement at UCSD, however, they do want to see at least a 1250 to be considered.

ACT: UCSD has an ACT score that ranges from 28 – 33.

GPA: University of California-San Diego (UC San Diego)’s average GPA is 4.08

Class Rank: Each incoming student is expected to hold a place in the top 10% of their high school peer group.
