EA says that it will stop working on its Battlefield mobile game and start to wind down on Apex Legends Mobile.

The gaming publisher on Tuesday during its earnings call made two announcements. Apex Legends Mobile which is a battle royale game that was launched last year will stop all operations on May 1 at 4 p.m. PT.

What Will Happen To Purchased In-Game Items

Players and gamers who acquired in-game items or have in-game currency in their Apex legends Mobile account will lose their purchases after the servers of the game reportedly goes down, and there also will be no refunds as per an FAQ posted on the website of EA. The sunsetting of Apex Legends Mobile will not have any impact on the console/PC versions of the game.

EA’s Reason for the New Development

EA first made its intentions known in 2021 for a Battlefield mobile game. The original plan was to bring the large-scale military FPS to mobile devices and that it would be a totally different take from the PC/Console versions. EA says that its pivot was “to best deliver on our vision for the franchise.”

The gaming company will however continue to work on its flagship game Battlefield 2042 which was considered as many as a disappointment when it was launched back in 2021.
