Refurbished laptops and phones or even gadgets, in general, are nothing like new ones, but the idea of remanufacturing or remaking cars to make them look like new ones is an interesting proposal in a bid to extend the lifecycle of a car.

However, Toyota UK thinks that it may just be the gateway to increasing the lifecycle for customer cars. The program was first reported by Autocar last Friday. The president and managing director of UK Toyota cars, Agustin Martin told the publication that the whole process will create the foundation of a new mobility sub-brand named kinto.

Toyota UK’s President Agustin Martin Honest Review

According to Toyota president martin, the whole idea is to take a car after the first use cycle such as a lease term, and then return it to the factory. And there in the factory, it will be remade to the best standard according to the company and prepared for a second cycle with a driver.

The company also revealed that it will be performing the cycle twice before deciding on responsibly recycling the car. The whole process may include reusing parts from vehicles and cars that are still in great condition, rebuilding batteries, and many more.

Toyota USA’s Reaction to the News

Toyota USA has already revealed to CNET’s Roadshow that the program is still in the early stages in the UK and didn’t add any additional details. A spokesperson from the company also refused to comment on the matter of a similar program taking place in the US.

The idea of offering remade cars for lease, sale, or subscription model could be very entertaining and welcome to car buyers. This is due to the fact that the prices for new and used cars keep soaring. This could also be a good medium for the brand to generate more revenues and customers.

Toyotas Plant to Pilot the Program

The program at the moment is taking place at the company’s plant in Burnaston which is tasked with building corolla hatchback and corolla station wagon local. If the plan all goes well, it just might be that we could see similar programs across many and several factories all over the world.
