The Launch Date of the Nvidia RTX 4070 And 4080 GPU Depends On One Key Factor

The launch date of the Nvidia RTX 4070 and 4080 GPU depends on one key factor. The key factor here is namely the sell-through of the RTX 3000 stock.

If you are keen to learn more in regards to the Nvidia RTX 4070 and 4080 graphics cards in terms of their potential launch timeframe, then you are in luck. Moore’s law is dead (MLID) which is a regular source of hardware leaks on YouTube has just discussed this topic in a new video that he just uploaded.

The leaker (MLID) believes the current situation is that Nvidia is set on launching next-gen Lovelace in an October date, and has also revealed this to its graphics card-making partners. But, exactly how that launch might progress is still up in the air and uncertain.

The RTX 4090 is almost 100% confirmed as to be arriving in October, the leaker cites. But as to the RTX 4080 and 4070, however, and whether there’ll be more than the one Lovelace GPU appearing this very year, Nvidia still hasn’t made a decision.

MLID notes that Nvidia still needs more time to shift current RTX 3000 stock in excess, in the midst of a GPU mining crash – which has resulted in far more used Ampere graphics cards being sold off, thus providing unwanted competition for new stock. And as we’ve already heard a couple of times on the rumor mill, how fast that sell-off proceeds in the next month or so will be very crucial for how much the staggered release of RTX 4000 GPUs is staged.

Nvidia Set To Announce Lovelace Officially

Majorly, in theory, we will be able to tell just how things are going at the time that Nvidia announces Lovelace officially. If it falls in early September, then it means that things are going well with the clearance of the RTX 3000 stock. But if on the other hand, it is late September then this could indicate the opposite.

What the YouTube leaker then forecasts is Nvidia claiming the performance top spot with the RTX 4090 in October, ahead of the next-gen RDNA 3 range of AMD which is purportedly launching in November. And if RTX 3000 stock is in good shape for October, in terms of bringing it down to acceptable levels in warehouses and still on shelves, it means that we’ll get a full RTX 4080 and 4070 launch following pretty immediately and swiftly, and this is likely to happen by the end of October or thereabouts.

MLID Admits That These Are Just Theories

You should however take all of his information in with caution as MLID admits that these are just theories. But if it however goes the other way with RTX 3000 stock and there is still very much hanging around, then we might have a situation where the chip-making company just paper-launches the RTX 4080 and 4070 close to the RDNA 3 release date.  This will also make the full release of the two GPUs be pushed back to 2023.
