In an official statement, he said, “I’m excited to announce that we are moving our headquarters to Austin, Texas.” He made the announcement on Thursday during a shareholder meeting. Currently, the automaking company has its headquarters in Palo Alto, California last year December; CEO Elon Musk said that he would be moving to Texas. He also tweeted in May that he would move Telsa’s headquarters to Texas or Nevada.

“Just to be clear, we will be continuing to expand our activities in California. This isn’t a matter of Telsa leaving California” he said. Since the summer of 2020, the CEO of Telsa has been working and developing a Telsa gigafactory in Texas. Besides that, the state of Texas is also one of the operating locations by SpaceX, one of Elon musk’s companies.

Elon Musk in a tweet in March also encouraged engineers, technicians, and everyone interested in working the pace company to relocate to Texas. In a tweet, he said, “please consider moving to Starbase or greater Brownsville/South Padre are of Texas and encourage friends to do so!”

Why Telsa Is Changing Its Headquarters Location

The move of the company’s headquarter is coming after a series of clashes the company had with the Alameda county officials last year regarding a forced shutdown of Telsa’s factory in Fremont, California over the safety of workers. Elon musk however ignored the order and reopened the factory after somewhat casualizing the severity of the pandemic. He dared officials to arrest him, but however, no arrest was made. Musk later tweeted that the company would sue the county for “acting contrary to…out constitutional freedoms and just plain common sense.”

After dissolving its public relations department last year, the company didn’t respond when reached out for a comment on the matter.

CEO, Elon Musk announced on Thursday that it would be moving the headquarters of the company from Palo Alto, California to Austin Texas. The company is currently building a large car and battery manufacturing complex in the state and has therefore announced that the company would be moving its headquarters there.

With the move of the headquarters to Texas, the company also announced that it would continue expanding its operations in California. This, therefore, means that only the headquarters will be moving and business goes on as usual in California.
