The Summer Rising Program is a free, safe, and fun academic and enrichment program set up for the NYC students currently in grades K-8. This program is scheduled to start on July 5th and end in the middle of August.
Summer Rising Program
This program is for all the locations throughout NYC. Bronx Brooklyn Manhattan Queens Staten Island. The Summer rising program is a full-day and in-person type of program. This program will offer academic and enrichment programs over the course of the day, which includes field trips, art activities, and outdoor recreation.
Breakfast and lunch will also be served in this program. Also, students with disabilities and English language learners are welcome.
Summer Rising Application
The application for New York City’s Summer Rising program available to all students in elementary and middle school has already opened.
New York City launched this program last year during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with the aim of creating a bridge back to school in the 2021-2022 school year.
Summer Rising NYC
This summer, the city has planned to expand the program to about 110,000 students who will get the opportunity to engage with peers, caring adults, and their community in a wide range of experiences.
For the students in grades K-5, the program will run for seven weeks in July and August this year. Particularly students in grades 6-8 will be in the program for about six weeks.
This year’s program will also offer high-quality program models, Friday sessions, and some optional extended hours from the city Department of Youth and Community Development. The students from District 75 and those with 12-month Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) will receive more inclusive programming.
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade, in both public and private schools, will be able to apply for the Summer Rising program.

Families are advised to apply for this program early enough to secure a spot in their preferred location. For availability, All families are required to sign up by May 22, 2022. Follow this process to successfully register for the program.

Who can attend Summer Rising Program NYC?
Students in kindergarten through eighth grade, in both public and private schools, are eligible to apply for Summer Rising.
What will Students do at Summer Rising?
The Summer Rising program offers rich sessions like academic classes, social-emotional learning, and other enrichment opportunities, like art activities, outdoor recreation, and even field trips. It also offers some local field trips which include visits to parks, pools, and other outdoor venues that are educational.
Academics sessions will be provided by licensed teachers in the morning, and enrichment will be led by community-based organization staff later on.
Students with disabilities who may require additional support to participate in programming, like a paraprofessional, will receive those supports as required.
