Digital music service and platform Spotify has now announced a new beta feature known as DJ. This new beta feature allows music fans to listen to their very own personal radio station, complete with announcements by an AI host.

Ziad Sultan, the head of personalization at Spotify revealed to CNET that DJ collects existing personalization features such as Daily Mixes and Wrapped “to the next level.” The DJ features add a “generative AI in the hands of music experts” which then translates specifically to some curated tracks and also incorporates an AI DJ’s voice. The AI DJ taps the voice of Xavier “X” Jernigan of Spotify and then translates information such as names of tracks and the biographies of artists.

Spotify’s AI DJ Feature Availability and Access

The mobile-only feature is now rolling out in beta starting from tomorrow to Spotify premium users in the United States and Canada. And with that being said, follow the steps below to access DJ;

  • First, click on the Music tab located at the top of your home screen.
  • In the case the service is available; the DJ card will appear at the top of your feed.
  • And after a short introduction, the service will start your personalization feed. And as usual, you can skip tracks, or if you want to try out a whole different mix, you can press the DJ button located in the bottom right corner.

That’s it.

Spotify is the biggest music streaming service and platform in the world, with over 200 million paid subscribers and 82 million tracks for a monthly subscription of $10. The service as you should know is rivaled by Apple Music which offers higher-quality streams and Dolby Atmos mixes for $11 per month.
