The Coordination Committee of the SA-CERN program recognizes the need to invest in the future of science. Hence, the establishment of the SA-CERN Excellence Bursary emerges; a limited yet impactful opportunity for the brightest minds.

South African students pursuing MSc or PhD studies, with a focus on research linked to the CERN facility, are encouraged to apply.

Benefits of SA-CERN Excellence Bursary

The SA-CERN Excellence bursary offers the following financial support:

  • MSc Level: Approximately R115,000 – R150,000
  • PhD Level: Around R102,000 – R177,000

Eligibility Requirements

  • The SA-CERN Programme seeks exceptional individuals with a proven track record of excellence and a clear demonstration of outstanding future potential.
  • The ideal candidate should have completed their previous degree with an impressive aggregate of 65%.
  • In addition, South African citizenship and full-time registration at a South African university from 2024 are prerequisites.
