Rumors Claim Production on Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset to Begin Soon
It would now look like the mixed reality headset by apple is going from the realm of rumors into an actual product that you will be able to go out and purchase as mass production of the device is reportedly going to get underway in March 2023.
Well, that’s according to DigiTimes via MacRumors, with Pegatron rumored to be the manufacturing partner for this piece of hardware. And according to the report based on inside sources, an unveiling of the device could happen in April.
The initial production is believed to be relatively low which is something less than one million units being made to kick things off with. Also mentioned in the reports is the high price for the headset and pointing out that it is going to be aimed at commercial markets when it is launched finally.
DigiTimes Refers To the Device as an “Extended Reality” Of the “XR” Headset
DigiTimes is at the moment referring to the device as an “extended reality” of the “XR” headset. The device is going to be combining both virtual reality (VR), which means completely enclosed virtual worlds, and augmented reality (AR) which simply is digital elements that are overlaid in the real world.
Another term that could be associated with this sort of AR/VR hybrid is mixed reality although different companies and enterprises tend to make use of different terms. Something like the Microsoft HoloLens 2 might give us an insight in regards to exactly what apple is about to launch.
There Might Be Future AR/VR Devices That Will Be Coming Down the Line
It sounds like there might be future AR/VR devices that will be coming down the line in the future, but the first one however is set to be a really expensive piece of hardware that is not going to be easily available among users.
