Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has been Postponed Again

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has been Postponed Again. Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the prince of Persia: The Sands of time has not been canceled, it has only been delayed out of its launch window in 2023 with no further release date proffered.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has been Postponed Again

The announcement came after some concern was expressed when retailers began delisting pre-orders for the game. Understandably, a lot of people thought that this was an indication that the troubled game might actually get canceled.

However, in a state to IGN Ubisoft stated that it was not the case and the sands of Time Remake is still actively in development, reiterating the may announcement that work has moved Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai over to Ubisoft Montreal.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Development

The prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake development will now be led by the Ubisoft Montreal,” Ubisoft told IGN. “We are proud of the work that was achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will be proud to benefit from their learnings as the new team would proceed with work to deliver a great remake.”

It’s “as a consequence” of this move, Ubisoft has added, that it was “no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore and the game has gotten delisted. If players wish they can cancel their preorder they are invited to contact their retailer. They would be updated on the project as the development keeps on moving along.”

As for all those that have been long awaiting the release of the Prince of Persia: The sands of time remake would be well aware, that this is not the first time the game has been subject to a somewhat indeterminate delay.

Prince of Persia the Sands of time Remake Release Date

When it finally got announced back in 2020, Sands of time was aiming at a January 2021 release, which was later pushed to march, which was then pushed to “a later date”. In October of 2021, it was stated that the game was looking at a 2022 to 2023 window. Now, seeing as we have a new release window, it seems like we could actually be waiting for a while.

Prince of Persia Postponed

Even if Prince of Persia: The sands of time remake have been carried out on a much better footing, it is unlikely that we would have gotten a much better update on it from Ubisoft this summer as the publisher has confirmed to Axios that it has no plans for the dedicated E3-style showcase coming in June.

Ubisoft is quite a great name for some type of summer showcase but fortunately, it has no plan to sit out 2022 entirely, telling Axios that there are plans to do something “later this year”. It is not yet clear whether or not other Ubisoft titles could be making some kind of appearance in third-party shows like the summer game fest opening night.

Sands of time is not the only project of Ubisoft that got extended that we are waiting on updates from, either with titles like Skull and Bones and Beyond Google and Evil 2 continuing to intrigue.
