Morgan Stanley’s Small Business Academy is an educational initiative designed to champion fairness and embolden leaders of diverse-owned small businesses.
The Academy aims to assist small businesses in utilizing their competitive strengths, standing out in the procurement process, enhancing their business acumen, and expanding their professional connections. The program includes a 12-week virtual educational program facilitated by instructors and is followed by a year-long mentorship initiative.

The Academy represents a collaboration between the Supplier Diversity Program and the Institute for Inclusion at Morgan Stanley. Reflecting the firm’s dedication to enhancing economic opportunities in underserved communities through its products, services, and influential perspectives.
Recognizing the obstacles and limitations that frequently hinder small businesses from accessing opportunities, resulting in a disparity between available resources and diverse suppliers, Morgan Stanley aims to address this gap. The Academy is committed to equipping small businesses with the expertise needed to secure contracts with financial services firms and other industries, fulfilling its mission to bridge this divide.

- After finishing the Morgan Stanley Small Business Academy curriculum, present a business proposal incorporating key insight from the Academy and a plan for execution to a panel of Morgan Stanley judges for potential access to capital.
Eligibility Requirements
- Small businesses located in either the United States or the United Kingdom.
- Certified as diverse businesses, owned by individuals from underrepresented groups such as African Americans. Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian-Pacific Americans, Asian Sub-continent Americans, women, veterans, LGBTQ+, disabled, disadvantaged, and/or any other marginalized groups.
- Registered as for-profit companies with an annual revenue (net profit) that falls within the following range:
- United States: USD 100,000 to $2,000,000 USD
- United Kingdom: $50,000 USD to USD 1,000,000
- Incorporated and operational for 3-12 years in the United States or 2-12 years in the United Kingdom. Meeting at least one of Morgan Stanley’s services, and having members of their business’s executive committee participate (a maximum of two representatives per business).
