MainOne claims that 2Africa, one of the largest submarine cable projects in the world, will connect Europe, Asia, and Africa over a distance of 45,000 km, with a design capacity of up to 180Tbps.
According to the corporation, the importance of 2Africa is its ability to meet important Internet requirements and improve dependability throughout large regions of Africa.
Moreover, according to MainOne, 2Africa acts as a catalyst for the development of 4G, 5G, and fixed broadband accessibility. According to MainOne, Akwa Ibom’s choice as a landing point highlights its strategic significance in Nigeria’s effort to undergo digital transformation.
According to the statement, 2Africa “significantly contributes to the country’s digital infrastructure resilience by offering cable diversity and resiliency.”
Metro Fiber Network in Nigeria’s South-South Zone and Akwa Ibom State
MainOne would help connect businesses and residents in the region to the subterranean cable system by facilitating the construction of a terrestrial metro fiber network in Nigeria’s South-South zone and Akwa Ibom State.
By bridging the gap between unserved and underserved areas, the terrestrial metro fiber network will also solve Internet distribution limits across Nigeria’s southern regions and North-Central zone.
