A step-by-step Process to Make Fried Rice

Now you want to begin making the rice after gathering your ingredients. Here are the simple steps you should follow:

Making the rice:

  • Wash the rice with cold water and put it in a big pot. Use 1 cup (178 g) of dry rice, rinse it gently under cold water. You can choose basmati, white, or jasmine rice.
  • Add 2 cups (473 ml) of water to the pot. Since you’re using 1 cup of rice, use twice as much water for parboiling.
  • Boil the mixture on high for 5 minutes. Let the water boil fully for 5 minutes. Don’t cover the pot while it heats.
  • Drain the rice using a strainer. Turn off the heat and pour the rice into a strainer to remove excess water.
  • Soak the rice in cold water for 5 minutes. Place the strainer with rice in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes.
  • Rinse the rice again with cold water. Take the rice out of the water and rinse it once more under the faucet. Your rice is now parboiled and ready.
  • Boil 1/2 cup (118 ml) of stock in a pot. Chicken or turkey stock is traditional, but you can use beef or vegetable stock.
  • Add the parboiled rice and boil for 25 minutes. Carefully add the rice to the boiling stock. Cook until the rice absorbs the stock, about 25 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and turn with a fork after 5 minutes. Let the rice sit for a bit and then turn it with a fork.

Frying the vegetables with the rice.

  • Cook the onions. Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a big skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for a minute or two.
  • Add veggies and seasonings. Put 1 cup of diced mixed vegetables in the skillet. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of thyme, 1 teaspoon of curry powder, and a stock cube. For an authentic taste, you can also cook 1 cup of cubed beef liver with the veggies. You can use frozen mixed vegetables or chop your own, like carrots, corn, green beans, and peas.
  • Cook the veggies. Stir and cook the veggies over medium heat until they’re warm. Don’t overcook them, or they’ll lose their colour and shape. If they stick, add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil.
  • Mix in the rice. Put the rice in the skillet with the seasoned veggies. Stir everything together and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring often. Turn off the heat and serve right away for the best taste.
  • Store leftovers. Keep any extra fried rice in an airtight container in the fridge for 5-7 days.

By following these steps, you will be able to make a bowl of delicious, tasty and enjoyable fried rice.
