Here’s a call for applications for the  Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Program 2023, interested individuals are encouraged to apply before October 16, 2022, 23:59. Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Program is targeted at South African students who intend to study in universities or higher education institutions in France for their Master’s degree or Ph.D.

About Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Program

The Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship program is also open to Lesothan students who are interested in applying for the program. The call for applications is open for students who intend to start their studies in France in September 2023.

Meanwhile, applicants will be contacted individually as needed and the list of the laureates and the waiting list will be announced according to the indicated timeline. The program does not entertain any follow-up requests by applicants thus they will not be answered.

As a result of the differences between the Southern and Northern hemisphere calendars, laureates are required to follow a specific program in South Africa from January to July 2023.

  • Scholarship worth: Under the Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Programme, two schemes are available:

First scheme

Scholarship by the Embassy of France. It includes Social security, priority for accessing student housing, visa fee exemption, and assistance offered by Campus France Paris.

Payment of tuition fees, about 5000€ per year.

Return flight ticket to France.

Monthly allowance of 700 euros for master’s students and 1400 euros for Ph.D. students

Additional accommodation aid of 150 euros/month can be obtained from the French Government.

Second scheme

Here, the monthly allowance will be provided fully or partially by a partner among the Advisory Board, a company, a higher education institution, or any other funding agency.

  • Duration of Award: The entire period necessary to obtain the degree

Eligibility Criteria for Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Program

In other to be eligible for the Graduate France-South Africa Scholarship Programme, applicants must be:

  • Below 33 years of age-old on 1st January 2023.
  • Applicants must be South African and Lesothan nationals.
  • Must be enrolled in a French Higher Education institution to pursue a Master’s degree or Ph.D.

Master’s degree

The scholarship will be granted for a period of 10 and 22 months. Students may consider applying directly to the second year of the Master Programme and note that only the hosting higher education institution is responsible for the admission.

After the first academic year, France embassy will verify the success of the student to continue her/his studies in the second year of the Master’s program.

PhDs

Granted for a maximum period of 3 years. After each academic year, for the student to get the renewal of his/her grant, the recipient will have to justify the progress of their research work.
