Search engine giant, Google, is now planning to bring new AI-powered tools to its suite of Workspace apps. The company in a blog post on Tuesday said that it is starting to test generative AI writing features in Docs and Gmail that can help users to get started on the whole writing process.
“Simply type a topic you’d like to write about, and a draft will instantly be generated for you,” “With your collaborative AI partner you can continue to refine and edit, getting more suggestions as needed.”
Benefits of the Tool
Google suggests that the tool can be used to help create things such as customized job descriptions or invitations for the birthday party of a child. The firm is also exploring new ways to incorporate AI tools into Slides, Sheets, Meet as well as Chat.
Other Companies Currently Testing Generative AI Capabilities
Google is one of a couple of companies currently testing generative AI capabilities in its services after OpenAI’s ChatGPT kicked off an AI boom in the latter parts of 2022. Microsoft Earlier this year launched a new AI-powered Bing, and Meta is experimenting with AI-powered chat on both WhatsApp and Messenger, while Grammarly on the other hand is set to launch an AI feature that is designed to craft email messages, social media posts, and many more.
The New AI Tools Is Only Be Available To a Limited Set of Trusted Testers
The new AI tools for Google’s Workspace apps initially will only be available to a “limited set of trusted testers” before it becomes available to the public, Google in the blog post said. The features are expected to start rolling out to testers in the next couple of weeks.
“When it comes to delivering the full potential of generative AI across Workspace, we’re just getting started,” Google stated.
