FG Seeks to Empower Over 3M Nigerians With Tech Initiative

The minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, Bosun Tijani, announced a program to equip Nigerians with technology skills. In a recent social media post, Tijani stated that the federal government plans to train three million technical talents (3MTT) by 2025. They plan to do it through this initiative.

He emphasized that the program will cultivate a pool of technical talent nationwide. Also, aligning with the ministry’s goal of transforming Nigeria into a talent-exporting nation. Tijani further highlighted that 3MTT will boost the digital economy and generate employment opportunities for trainers.

Talents Will Be Trained for the Next 3 Months

During the initial phase of the program, Tijani mentioned that they aim to train 30,000 tech talents from all over Nigeria. This will be done within the next three months. He stressed that this opportunity isn’t exclusively for young individuals, as those aged 45 and above are also welcome to apply. Tijani expressed his anticipation of receiving applications for this pioneering initiative through this link: https://3mtt.nitda.gov.ng.

What Will Learners Be Trained On

The ministry, stated that organizations interested in offering trainers should access the document through this portal. Participants will receive training in software development, UI/UX design, data analysis and visualization, quality assurance, product management, data science, animation, AI/machine learning, cybersecurity, game development, cloud computing, and dev ops.

The statement clarified that the training will follow a hybrid model, combining online and in-person elements. While a significant portion of the training can be completed remotely, there will be in-person training components as well.

The government also committed to providing financial support to cover the training costs during the initial phase.
