DoorDash which is a food delivery service that saw significant growth during the pandemic, on Wednesday announced that it would be laying off about 1,250 corporate employees.

In a blog post by DoorDash’s CEO, Tony Xu, he said, “I am truly sorry and I apologize to have some of you wake up to this news as opposed to reading it during more normal hours.”

What DoorDash’s CEO Has to Say about This Development?

Xu stated that many of the investments of the company are paying off and that the business also is more resilient than many others, the company, however, sped up its hiring during the pandemic, and operating expenses would continue to soar and outgrow revenue in the event that things did not change.

“We were not as rigorous as we should have been in managing our team growth,” Xu said. And “that’s on me.”
