Couples can now make wedding registries on Etsy. And the wedding registries on the online shopping platform can include handmade, vintage, and custom items that are on sale on Etsy.
Couples wedding registries on Etsy
Couples that are looking for more bespoke or personalized wedding gifts will now have the opportunity and ability to create a registry on Etsy right about now.
The platform which is well known for handmade and vintage items has now added a wedding registry option which will be available to users starting today. Couples can now create and then add items to their list, and guests will be able to search for and then purchase gifts off of registries on Etsy.
And in addition to handmade as well as vintage items for sale on the platform, couples also will be able to add custom gifts to their registries and then specify customizations such as names, colors, designs, or any other personalization that sellers on the platform offers.
How the Wedding Registry Work
On the end of the seller, the process of fulfilling registry orders will be the same as others, but sellers however will get to see a badge signaling that it was bought from a registry. Friends and family that are shopping off of a registry and don’t have an Etsy account will then need to make one.
Etsy wedding registries make quite a lot of sense. And it is somewhat surprising that this was not already a feature on the platform. Everything ranging from embroidered bridal party gifts and neon signs down to lockets with human hair is on for sale on Etsy, and very much of which buyers can get customized for gifts. It is also a very popular place to purchase wedding decor, and this is including invitations and wedding favors.
Etsy’s Handmade Policy
Although Etsy started as a place for weird and quirky items that are made by artisans, the platform now offers items that you would see in other big-box retailers after initial policies were relaxed to let mass-produced goods. The handmade policy of Etsy however still requires that sellers have a hand in the design or production process.
The Indie Sellers Guild
That very policy change on the platform got to open the door for print-on-demand as well as drop-shipped items to be sold on Etsy which as you should know is perhaps popular with shoppers but however a thorn in the side of some sellers on the platform. Just last spring, after the company announced an increase in seller transaction fee, thousands of Etsy shops went on strike in a bid to protest policies, and this is including the type of items that are allowed on the marketplace.
And following the strike, some shop owners who participated in the reported action went on to form the Indie Sellers Guild, which is a nonprofit advocacy group for anyone who sells handmade, vintage, or craft items.
