The 2025 intake for the Ashesi-ETH Master in Mechatronic Engineering Scholarship (fourth cohort) is now open for applications, until July 31, 2024!
This scholarship is a joint Master’s programme in mechanical engineering, it has been available since January 2022 between Ashesi, a young and dynamic university in Ghana, and ETH Zurich, a renowned institution with a wealth of experience in producing highly skilled engineers and a vast network in African countries.
Approximately forty (40) students are enrolled at Ashesi University currently, representing seven African nations. A third cohort has been chosen, and its investigations are scheduled to begin in 2024. Faculty from both universities collaborate to develop and teach the programme in block courses.
Overview of the Ashesi-ETH Masters Scholarship
Mechatronics is a broad field that includes technology that enables a multitude of everyday applications, such as robotic space exploration, self-driving cars, automated home appliances, and “smart” manufacturing. This Master’s Programme, taught at Ashesi University by staff from both Ashesi and ETH Zurich, gives students a broad range of skills and specialized competencies to pursue a career in this exciting and forward-thinking profession.
Under the guidance of professionals from academia and industry whose teaching and training are informed by world-class research and expertise, participating students will have the opportunity to develop research and innovation competencies through industrial internship programs and project work for a master’s degree. This will enable them to combine theory and practicals while focusing on their career and plan-related topics.

- Awarded Degrees & Certificates: Upon graduation, students will get a Master of Science (MSc) from Ashesi University and a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) from ETH Zurich. There are no replacements for diplomas.
Eligiblity Requirements for Ashesi-ETH Zurich Masters Scholarship
- Admission Requirements: Candidates must have a BSc or MSc in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Mechanical, Process or Mechatronics Engineering
- Have a Second Class Upper or above
- Proficiency in English is mandatory
- Those who apply and are selected for an industry scholarship will pay a $50 application fee
