The Higher Education and SDGs Network Grants offer financial support for collaborative initiatives that focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ACU Higher Education & the SDGs Network Grants 2024

These grants are available to professional and academic staff members at ACU member universities, and they focus on the key themes of the ACU Higher Education and the SDGs Network:

  • Engagement and impact
  • Estates and stewardship
  • Partnerships
  • Research
  • Teaching and learning

These grants have supported various initiatives, projects, workshops, and events, ranging from initiatives in Fiji to find energy-saving and clean energy options for schools, to initiatives addressing gender-based disparities in access to finance and promoting women’s economic empowerment through financial literacy. The grants have been utilized for a wide array of activities aimed at achieving the SDGs.

Grant

  • Four grants of up to GBP 2,500

Eligibility Criteria

  • Available to professional and academic staff at ACU member universities.
  • Individuals from universities that have already been awarded the ACU Higher Education and the SDGs Network Grant cannot apply.

Applicants are encouraged to:

  • Engage in collaborations with other ACU member universities or organizations such as local governments to foster stronger Commonwealth partnerships. This will be viewed positively.
  • Consider providing matching or additional funding from their university as a component of the application. While not mandatory, this will be regarded favorably.

Proposed applications may involve concepts such as:

  • Online exchange or interaction, collaboration in education or professional practices, joint creation and use of educational resources, tools, training, and methods to facilitate the preparedness and continuity of academic operations at higher education institutions (HEIs)
  • Virtual fellowships, comparative analysis, capacity-building for managing and utilizing research.
  • Incorporating sustainability principles into operations.
  • Sharing SDG learning resources and materials.
  • Establishing research strategies that focus on SDGs.
  • Co-creating research plans for generating positive impact, engaging with communities, and forming partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
