If you are thinking of getting a new action camera from GoPro or DJI you should press pause on that for now unless in the event that you need one for an imminent trip. This is so as new rumors in that regard now suggest that DJI could be joining forces with GoPro in launching a new model very soon.

@DealsDrone who is a regular DJI leaker has now claimed that a new DJI action 3 ‘will be released in the middle of September.’ That being said, this would be a successor to the modular DJI Action 2 although the leak claims that “its appearance is almost [the] same as [the] Osmo Action”.

If this is true, then it means that DJI is planning to launch a more traditional action camera that would compete with the hero lineup of GoPro once again. The original Osmo Action which was launched back in 2019 beats its GoPro rivals to the punch with so many features and this is including a front-facing screen for vlogging purposes.

That being said, the camera could be competing against a new flagship from GoPro very soon. And while we have not yet seen any leaks for a GoPro Hero 11 Black, all GoPro’s from 2017 to this day have been announced in September except for the GoPro Hero 8 Black which was launched in the middle of October.

Hero 11 Black Will Launch Sometime Next Month

What does this mean? This simply means that the changes that a Hero 11 Black will launch sometime next month are very high, particularly as CEO of GoPro Nick Woodman earlier stated this year that “at the end of 2022, we plan to increase our hardware offering from the two product types we have today, Hero and Max, to four distinct camera products”.

The action cam king so far this year only has launched the GoPro Hero 11 Black Bones so far, which is a stripped-down version of its flagship model for FPV (first-person view) drones. This then means that we are expecting refreshes of its Hero and Max lineups and also maybe one new type of camera by the year’s end.

The main one however will likely be a Hero 11 Black which apparently will compete against a DJI Action 3 that is refreshed soon for the heart of action adventures who are looking for a compact, waterproof video camera with very powerful stabilization features.
