FAQs

  1. What is the difference between SUPRA and RTPS Scholarships?

SUPRA (Swinburne University Postgraduate Research Award) and RTPS (Research Training Program Stipend) are both funded scholarships. Students do not need to apply separately; once you apply for the Swinburne Research Scholarship, you are automatically considered for both. The funding and benefits are similar, and the scholarship you receive depends on availability and eligibility.

  1. Can international students apply for the Swinburne Research Stipend Scholarship?

Yes, international students are fully eligible to apply. If selected, they will also receive a tuition fee scholarship that covers full tuition for the duration of their doctoral program (up to four years).

  1. Do I need to have a supervisor before applying?

Yes. Applicants must liaise with a nominated Principal Supervisor prior to submitting their application. Your supervisor must support your project and sign the HDR Research Proposal. Not having this may impact your eligibility.

  1. Is there a limit to how many times I can apply?

You can apply during either round 1 or round 2 each year, but if unsuccessful in one round, you can reapply in the next. Ensure your application is strong, complete, and aligned with Swinburne’s research strategy for the best chance of success.
