Windows 11 could be set to juice things up in the Notepad by including tabs into the fray, at least if a leak from a test version of the app is anything to be believed, although not everyone is kind of happy about this very idea.

A tweet from a Microsoft staff member which made mention about tabs coming to Notepad and displayed a screenshot of the preview version of the application showcasing tabs in action was spotted by Windows Central. The shared screen grab came with a clear warning to not discuss the new feature or even take screenshots of it, so as you might have imagined from your end when the leak was picked up by Twitter, the tweet was quickly deleted.

How Will the New Feature Work?

It is however not much of a surprise to see the presence of tabs further expanded in windows 11, considering that they came to File Explorer recently. And for those users who could actually use a quick refresher at the moment on exactly what tabs are and just how they work, here is something for you. The tabs present in File Explorer or the Notepad indeed, work similarly to the ones present in your web browser.

These tabs in question allow users to open many web pages in the same browser window, and then similarly to what happens in File Explorer, enable the opening of plenty of folders in the same window. With Notepad, however, you will be able to open many documents in just one instance of the app
