The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) is inviting applications for its DELTAS II Graduate Internship Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year. WACCBIP-DELTAS II Graduate Internship Programme 2024/2025

In response to the World Bank’s initiative for African Centres of Excellence, the University of Ghana established WACCBIP at Legon. WACCBIP, a Centre of Excellence for biomedical research, collaborates with international partners to support a broad spectrum of research activities.

The DELTAS II programme, under the auspices of the Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) and funded by Wellcome and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), is one such initiative.

Programme Overview

The WACCBIP-DELTAS II Graduate Internship is designed to provide hands-on research experience to graduates.

Interns will assist in various research activities, participate in training programmes, attend research conferences and workshops, and take on additional tasks as directed by their supervisors or the Director.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Have completed their undergraduate studies by July/August 2024 and be registered for National Service.
  • Have majored in the following areas;
  • Biological Sciences
  • Computer Science
  • Chemistry
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Business Administration
  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Political Science
  • Sociology
  • Psychology
  • English Communication, or Linguistics.
  • Demonstrate hard work, high motivation, and a strong interest in scientific research.

Intern Responsibilities

Interns will:

  • Assist with ongoing research projects at WACCBIP.
  • Support the delivery of training programmes.
  • Attend and participate in research conferences and workshops.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Benefits

Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend to supplement their National Service allowance.
