The Metaverse-owned company said on Wednesday that it is expanding the capability to more accounts, were as this was limited to verified accounts or people with a certain amount of followers. Now, everyone can share Instagram link stickers regardless of the size of their followers.

“We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family,” said Instagram in a blog post. “Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories — regardless of your account size.”

How to Add Links to Your Instagram Stories

  1. Add your content to your story.
  2. Click on the sticker tool located at the top navigation bar.
  3. Select the link sticker. Drop your link and click done.
  4. You can tap the sticker to see other colour options. Place the sticker where ever you want on your story.

“We’re also working on ways to customize the sticker so it’s clear what someone will see when they tap your link,” Instagram said.

Users Who Won‘T be Able to Access The Instagram Link Sticker Feature

According to Instagram, users who won‘t have access to this feature include new accounts and  “accounts that repeatedly share things like hate speech and misinformation, or other content that violates our Community Guidelines”.

Link stickers are useful to help you link out or fully showcase your products to activists linking out to external resources. Originally, it was created solely for stories, not for any other part of the app and that remains the status quo till now.

Swipe Up Feature Has Totally Been Replaced

The Instagram link stickers has totally replaced the ‘swipe up‘ feature which was how Instagram users could previously link out to external webpages from their stories and which was stopped by the platform in August.

Link stickers are now more widely available than the ‘swipe up‘ was since the ‘swipe up‘ feature was only available to verified accounts or users with over 10,000 followers. Because of its potential value to our various businesses, it is very important that we check out this feature and make the best we can out of it.
