The future of how people now listen to music is looking increasingly to be in immersive audio. This is after a report by Dolby claimed that there is now a growing interest in the number of big-name acts that are now offering their music in its Atmos format.

As per Music Ally, during a financial earnings call by the company earlier this week, the CEO of the company Kevin Yeaman revealed to investors: “We have two-thirds of the top 100 Billboard artists that have one or more songs available in Dolby Atmos,” “We have two-thirds of the top 100 Billboard artists that have one or more songs available in Dolby Atmos.”

The CEO also highlighted how the platform, Atmos was also starting to be adopted in live music situations, revealing RNB star Ushers’ most recent residency at the MGM venue in Las Vegas that featured 3D audio mixes.

And taking a quick look at the latest album chart, Yeamans claim seems to be backed up. In recent weeks, new albums from big star names such as Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, and Harry Styles have all been released in Dolby Atmos showing that multi-channel mixes may well be on their way to becoming the new norm for big label acts.

Apple Music Is another Major Streaming Service to Offer Its Library on Dolby Atmos

Last year, apple music became the latest major streaming platform and service to offer a vast library of both classic and new music in Dolby Atmos. The platform with this move is set to be following the steps of rivals, tidal, and amazon music which also offer selected releases in the hi-res, multi-channel format.

This news from Dolby is coming in at a time when high-end music streaming platform and service Qobuz announced that they had teamed up with THX in offering tracks in the new 24-bit THX spatial audio format by the company.

Three Tracks That Feature the THX Audio Format Have Been Released On the Service

So far, three tracks that feature the THX audio format from Circuit des Yeux, Anat Cohen, and Dinosaur Jr have been released on the service with the special 3D audio mixes aiming to offer to listeners the impression of being in the same league as the performers.

And according to Qobuz, there is no specific pair of headphones needed in order to experience the tracks in THX Spatial Audio, with all three songs now available to subscribers.
