TWAS Arab Young Affiliates 2024–2029

Every year, the five TWAS Regional Partners select up to five exceptional early-career scientists who are below the age of 40, granting them the title of ‘TWAS Young Affiliates’ for six years. These talented scientists become part of a growing network consisting of the most promising scientists from developing countries. Moreover, they gain access to various opportunities to interact and learn from TWAS Fellows.

TWAS Arab Young Affiliates

Throughout their affiliation, these Young Affiliates can take part in numerous activities, including events organized by the Arab regional partner of TWAS (TWAS-AREP) and other affiliated events organized by TWAS.

The program, initiated in 2007, aims to identify the brightest young scientists in each region of the developing world, providing them with platforms to connect, interact with TWAS Fellows, and attend international conferences and other events specifically designed for young scientists.

Being a TWAS Young Affiliate offers several benefits, including:

  • invitations to attend all TWAS General Meetings and Conferences;
  • invitations to attend regional meetings of TWAS Arab Fellows, which are held in Alexandria;
  • opportunities to participate in TWAS national chapter activities in your home country (if such a chapter is available);
  • receiving copies of TWAS publications such as the newsletter, yearbook, and annual report;
  • your biodata and photograph may be published in an annual Young Affiliates Year Book, which is distributed during each TWAS General Meeting;
  • eligibility for TWAS Prizes (unlike full TWAS members);
  • the right to attend TWAS General Assemblies as an observer, without voting rights;
  • encouraged to provide TWAS with feedback on how the Academy can best serve the needs of young scientists in developing countries.
