Nintendo is now skipping the Electronic Entertainment Expo this very year which is popularly known as E3. The maker of the Switch on Friday confirmed that it will not be taking part in the gaming convention which is set to make a return this summer after it was canceled in 2022.

“We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans,” a spokesperson from Nintendo revealed to CNET via email. “Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3.”

Nintendo Stopped Holding Press Conferences after the Show In 2012

Given the fact that Nintendo has now pulled back from the convention in recent years, the move is however not that surprising. Nintendo stopped holding press conferences dedicated to the event after the show in 2012 but instead held digital-only Nintendo Directs.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo Are Set To Miss the Event

IGN in the previous month reported that Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo were all skipping the event and would not be having a presence on the show floor. Microsoft is also expected to hold its very own Xbox showcase event in Los Angeles this summer.
