Lenovo’s New Workstation Could Be The Most Powerful Mini PC Ever

Tech giants, Lenovo, just recently announced a tiny workstation PC that comes with all the sorts of components that you will find in a traditional mid-tower chassis into a 4L box. And in order to achieve that level of compression, a couple of corners had to be cut along the way.

Lenovo’s new workstation is called the ThinkStation P360 ultra and its supports alder lake Intel processors up to the 16-core Core i9- 12900K CPU, 128GB of DDR5 worth of memory, and up to Nvidia RTX A5000 mobile. Expansion capabilities with this workstation are restricted as there are two PCle Gen 4X4 M.2 slots and a 2.5-inch SATA port for optional HDD or SSD. There is also a PCle 4.0 x16 expansion slot for the GPU and also another one for a lone PCIe 3.0 x$ card.

Due to the size, Lenovo did a stellar job in regards to its connectivity. And although there are no card readers, you will get access to four USB ports, two LAN ports (1GbE and 2.5GbE), and up to three full-size DisplayPort ports powering up to 8k monitors and also up to wifi-6E (Intel AX211) in the vPro-capable system.

The P360 Ultra Has an Interesting Built

The casing of this workstation, the P360 ultra surprisingly has more holes to help it remove heat as quickly as possible. It also boasts a powerful and most likely a noisy fan. The CPU has a maximum turbo power dissipation of 241W with the GPU’s TGP that tops 150W under load.

Lenovo intentionally and wisely took away the power supply unit from outside the chassis which easily helps a bit with the cooling job in regards to powering the parts. And since these PSUs go up to 300W, they are very much unlikely to be the new compact GaN model. It just might be a great move to want to compare it with mobile workstations if you are not so fussed about form as a factor.

The tech company, Lenovo also manufactures even smaller workstations such as the P360 Tiny which is a 1L mini-PC but however cannot be compared to the ultra when it comes to sheer grunt.

Cost of the P360 Ultra

In a few days when the P360 ultra will launch, the cheapest it will cost is around $1,299. The company s of yet has not confirmed whether the workstation will be available largely outside the United States.
