Google Playstore has launched Install Optimization to make things better for a lot of people. For the past years, Google has always counted on their AI and Machine Learning to help with the improvements of their Process in lieu of manpower.
However, machine learning has always needed more data to learn from, and there happens to be a better source of millions of pieces of data than the millions of users of Android out there. One of the examples includes how the app would be downloaded and installed, a federated learning feature that the Google feature now includes has now started rolling out to people making users of Android.
Install Optimization Launched for Google Play Store
Now, google seems to be on a spree pushing for a new style of machine learning that, as stated by the company, at least manages to preserve user’s privacy while that are harvesting pieces of their data. There has been some controversy around their latest federated learning of Cohorts of FLoC but that is not the only place, it has been pushing some sort of crowdsourced style of learning. It is making use of an improve Google Assistant’s hotword detection and now it’s doing something similar for Google Play Store’s app installation process.
Google Play Store Latest Feature
As Revealed in the past months, the new App Install Optimization feature now leverages what Google Play Store can do on Android already. It learns which part of an app a user goes to first after installing it. it gathers that data from all the other users that it makes use of to improve how apps are packaged, downloaded, installed, and then run for you to cover the most common use cases.
XDA now seems to have received a tip that App Install Optimization is enabled by default when it comes out to some users of Android. A notice would pop up launching the Google Playstore, thereby alerting them of this latest feature. A new setting has also included some users that can turn that on or off as desired.
The Install Optimization Launched for Google Play Store is enabled by default immediately after it arrives. Google has promised that no personal information is ever gathered and that the feature does not even look at any other app. Whether that is enough for you to satisfy privacy that concerns, however, and remains to be seen.
