Gaming company Epic signs up rock band creator Harmonix. The reported studio will now work on Fortnite, and in the process also continue its support for existing games.

The gaming company responsible for the creation of Fortnite, epic recently announced its latest buy Harmonix which is the studio behind iconic music games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. With a buy like this, one would be curious to know what happens to other existing games the creators have been working on.
Harmonix’s Blog Post Regarding the Acquisition
The studio, Harmonix said in a blog post that it will continue its support for existing games such as fuse and rock band. Also explained is the studios’ plan to expand into the metaverse. The studio said in the blog post that, “we’ll be working with epic to once again challenge expectations as we bring out unique brand of musical gaming experiences to the metaverse, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Gaming company epic also said that the studio will “develop musical journeys and gameplay for Fortnite.” Music is one factor that has gained more focus lately from gaming company epic as it has shown big success in terms of virtual concerts inside Fortnite from artists such as Ariana Grande and Travis Scott. The company has also established its stance on buying Harmonix as it fits into its musical plans.
What Epic Has To Say About Acquiring Harmonix
Vice president of game development in Epic, Alain Tascan said, “music is already bringing millions of people together in Fortnite, from our emotes to global concerts and events. Together with the Harmonix team, we will transform how layers experience music, going from passive listeners to active participants.”
The gaming company over the past few years has made giant strides in making a number of high profile buys in the gaming development industry including Mediatonic which is the team behind fall guys and rocket league studio Psyonix.
