Programs to Be Funded

Two types of programs will be funded below;

Undergraduate studies

Only 4-year Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) programs, specializing in one of the following will be funded;

  • Foundation Phase (Grade R – 3),
  • Intermediate Phase (Grades 4 – 6) and Senior and Further
  • Education and Training Teaching (Grade 7-12).

Graduate Studies

A One-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is only for graduates whose degrees reflect two priority subjects where at least one module/course was completed or studied at the third-year level and the second priority subject was completed or studied at the second-year level.

Eligibility Criteria of The Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme for South Africans 2023

To get this scholarship, you must fulfill the following eligibility requirements;

  • All applicants must be most 30 years of age to qualify for this scholarship
  • The allocation of the Funza Funza Lushaka bursaries to Higher Education Institution employees, spouses, or anyone related to an employee is not acceptable
  • The scheme does not fund extended programs
  • All the applicants must be accepted into an approved B.Ed degree or PGCE program
  • The applicants of this program must have demonstrated outstanding academic ability
