The co-creator of demon slaying series Doom, John Romero is currently working on a new FPS game that is built in Unreal Engine 5. John Romero did not contribute or assist to the revival of the classic series although they were rebooted many years ago with Doom and Doom Eternal. The creators’ recent release however was in 2020 which was a mafia strategy game Empire of Sin. And at the moment he is returning to the FPS genre for his next game.

John announced the yet to named title via a tweet, advertising various job postings for the game. Details regarding the game are sparse, although the tweet did mention Romero Studios is working with a major publisher in developing the game that will solely e based on an original IP. Also, the online architect job posting mentioned that the game will support multiplayer for console and PC and additionally ‘live-ops functionality.’
The job listings revealed that the game will be built making use of Unreal Engine 5 which is Epic’s recent top-of-the-line game-making kit.
