If you are one of the many persons who at the moment are waiting to stock on the new Canon EOS R7 or any of its mid-range mirrorless cameras to become available patiently, then you just might have to wait for a little bit longer. Cannon has just recently announced that it will be prioritizing the stocking of its full-frame cameras for the remaining parts of the year.

Cannon said in a statement about its 2022 financial results in its second quarter that “we raised the ratio of full-frame mirrorless cameras, for which we prioritize production and sales”.

This further explains the reason why it is still very much easy to find stock of cameras such as the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 but less on the other hand for mid-range cameras just like the new EOS R7. Both the EOS R7 and EOS R10 have been earmarked for a vague ‘end of 2022’ release in the United States. In the United Kingdom, on the other hand, the two cameras are still very much out of stock.

What the Comments of Canon Points Out To

The comments of canon in its financial results however throw some light on the company’s plans for the remaining part of 2022 alongside the reason as to why it has been difficult to purchase its mid-range cameras.

The camera-producing company admitted that this year’s “supply of products has been insufficient to meet demand”, due to “the global shortage of parts since last year and Shanghai’s Covid lockdown”. This has however impacted the sales of camera bodies unfortunately as they “continue to be below those of last year”.

One Positive to Take From All This

One positive aspect of it all, canon says that it expects the production of cameras to recover “from the second half of the year”, but its focus however will be on full frame mirrorless cameras and sale of RF lenses. And in regards to the canon EOS R7 and EOS R10, the stamen says “we will launch the EOS R7 and EOS R10”, despite the fact that they were both announced back in May.

And while it is still very much possible to make pre-orders of the canon EOS R7 and EOS R10, neither third-party retailers nor canon itself is giving a time frame as to when stock might be available. And with canons statement stated in its financial report, it is best to just assume that it will be later than sooner.
