Canada Fund For Local Initiatives Brazil 2024 (Up to $30,000 Grant)

The CFLI is an initiative created to assist with small-scale projects in developing nations that are in line with Global Affairs Canada’s key areas of focus. This program primarily focuses on projects that are led by local partners. The selection and approval of projects are carried out by the Canadian embassy. The CFLI also contributes to fostering positive relationships between Canada, recipient countries, and their civil societies, by facilitating communication and supporting local initiatives.

Thematic Priorities

All projects must generate tangible and long-lasting outcomes while aligning with at least one of the CFLI’s thematic priorities. These priorities include:

  • Human rights and human dignity, with a particular focus on marginalized groups such as black, brown, indigenous, quilombolas, LGBTQIA+, refugees, and migrant communities.
  • Inclusive governance, promoting diversity, democracy, and the rule of law.
  • Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
  • Environment and climate action, specifically addressing adaptation and mitigation strategies as well as water management.
  • Timely and targeted responses to emergent disasters or crises, providing support to migrant and refugee populations and host communities. These responses should also be by Canada’s International Feminist Assistance Policy.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The eligible candidates for the program are restricted to Brazilian non-governmental, community, and non-profit organizations that have registered with a CNPJ.
