About Berlin Scholarship Program
The Berlin scholarship supports young talented students from abroad who have been socially committed to volunteer work in their home countries. This scholarship is offered with the belief that education is key to improving the living conditions in non-developed or rather poorer countries of the world.
The scholarship is a full scholarship that covers the following cost related to the study: tuition fee, accommodation, and a monthly allowance for living expenses.
To be considered for the Berlin Scholarship, the applicants must be willing to return to their home country to work for at least 18 months after the completion of the study program. Therefore, from the onset of the scholarship, SBW Berlin supports all scholarship recipients to realize their professional goals in their home countries.
Who’s Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must meet the following criteria in other to be considered for the fully Funded Berlin Scholarship in Germany.
- Eligible to apply are Foreign Nationals, whose home countries appear to have a particular need for the development of Homeless foreigners
- Recognized Refugees can apply
- All Holders of a settlement permit are eligible to apply
- Berlin Scholarship is open to Holders of an EU long-term residence permit
- The scholarship is open to Students from EU and EEA countries who have already worked in Germany in an activity related to their studies, before taking up their studies
- Also eligible to apply include students from EU/EEA countries with a permanent right of residence as defined by the Freedom of Movement Act
Application Requirement for Berlin Scholarship 2023
- Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old to be eligible
- Applicants must have Professional or volunteer experience in the non-profit sector
- He or She must be willing to work in their country of origin for at least 18 Months after graduation
- Applicants must Show evidence of a relatively low net income
- Applicants must be able to prove that they have not stayed in Germany for more than 18 Months before the application
Benefits of the Berlin Scholarship

- An accommodation of shared student flats in Berlin
- Allowances for Cost-of-living allowance
- Tuition Fees waiver
- May receive a travel allowance for the journey to Berlin before the start of studies and for the journey home after completing the studies
- Berlin Scholarship Recipients will be offered allowances up to 450 Euro for monthly Living Expenses

- Access the application webpage and upload all necessary documents.
- The first phase of the selection process would require the submission of the following; Curriculum vitae, letter of motivation, and the grades of the applicants
- While the 2nd phase of the selection process requires a personal interview or video conference with each candidate. This candidate must have been deemed suitable after all documents have been carefully reviewed.
- The final selection will then be made after the project description is reviewed
